Over the last 3 years, potential customers have approach me with questions, typically in a message or email, trying to determine if a weighted blanket will do for them what they hope it will.
The Assessment Report is a Helpful Guide
It was with them (and you!) in mind that I put together the Weighted Blanket Assessment. A weighted blanket is a serious investment, and neither of us want you to make that investment only to discover that you can’t stand having the blanket on you. So I do my best to make sure that you have as much information as possible as you do your shopping research.
Despite my own proclivities, I recognize that not everyone wants to read a bunch of research. Not everyone has the time to write an email with a boatload of questions, either.
I designed the Assessment to give you the information you need to make an informed decision about your purchase. So what does the Assessment Report look like? Today I give you a look at what kind of email to expect in your inbox, and how to interpret the results.
Thank you for completing the Weighted Blanket Assessment over at LorasWeightedBlankets.com! Based on your answers in Part 1, you scored 19. You can see the scale ranges below: a weighted blanket could benefit you greatly.
Now that you’ve taken the assessment, are there any questions you have about weighted blankets? Just hit reply and I’ll be happy to answer.
I look forward to hearing from you!
You scored 19 out of 26
Based on your answers to the Assessment, you should*:
- 0-5…….. Consider seeking other options for treating your symptoms
- 6-9…….. Be aware that a weighted blanket may not be a good fit
- 10-12….. Probably try before you buy (see ideas)
- 12-15….. Consider purchasing a weighted blanket — it could be really helpful
- 16-19….. Know that a weighted blanket could benefit you greatly.
- 20-26….. Wonder how in the world you have managed this long without a weighted blanket!?
(*standard disclaimer: that this is not a scientific scale, and could be open to interpretation).
If I were to generalize, I’d group the results into three categories, something akin to the school-yard game, Red Light, Green Light, where:
Red Light = 0-9 (Probably not)
Yellow Light = 10-15 (Maybe)
Green Light: 16-26 (Definitely)
0-5…….. Consider seeking other options for treating your symptoms
6-9…….. Be aware that a weighted blanket may not be a good fit
Only rarely does someone who take this Assessment fall into these first two categories. Whether that is because most people could/would benefit from weighted blankets in one way or another or because most of the people who come to my website are predisposed to benefiting from a weighted blanket, I don’t know for certain. (I suspect the latter, but the former could still be a possibility).
Basically, this result indicates that based on the information provided, you might not enjoy or benefit from a weighted blanket all that much. This is particularly true if you indicated that the idea of having pressure/weight on you sounded claustrophobic. While a weighted blanket can be just the right answer for a great many people, it is not for everyone. Here is a post I wrote outlining 3 other ways you can explore your reactions/responses to weight/pressure.
10-12….. Probably try before you buy.
12-15….. Consider purchasing a weighted blanket — it could be really helpful
When I first created this assessment, I wasn’t sure that folks who scored 10-12 would be a good fit. As part of my preliminary testing, I asked a few folks to take the test for me. I was pleasantly surprised when one of my raving fans and loyal customers scored in this range. She later wrote this: “You can’t put a price on getting better sleep. For real. I’ve probably spent that amount alone in OTC sleep aids. Getting to sleep wasn’t as big of an issue as staying asleep and the blanket provides that.”
I still suggest that, if you are in this range, be certain to read my post, 4 ways to be sure a weighted blanket is right for you. In it, I include several ideas (aside from the Assessment) for how to test the effects of pressure & weight while noting your physical response.
16-19….. Know that a weighted blanket could benefit you greatly.
20-26+….. Wonder how in the world you have managed this long without a weighted blanket!?
Most of the folks who take my quiz find themselves in this range. At this point the question is not “will I benefit from a weighted blanket?” so much as “how would I like my blanket made?” In fact, you probably already knew that you would benefit from a weighted blanket before you even took the Assessment — taking it has simply provided you with one more confirmation. You are already piling on the blankets and pillows, even your pets, in efforts to supply the pressure you crave so much.
There are some folks who actually accumulate more than 26 points in the Assessment. I suspect that a lot of folks who belong in this category just skip the Assessment altogether — they already know. Just the thought of their favorite blanket having additional weight added to it sounds absolutely heavenly.
Whatever you do, Trust Yourself First and Foremost
No matter which category you scored, I want you to be sure that you hear this: trust yourself. If you scored really low, but you’re confident that having additional weight in your blanket would help you sleep, trust yourself first. Perhaps you’re like one of my previous customers who scored in what I originally thought was a “probably not” range and but is actually a raving fan. (If you take the Assessment and find that it doesn’t accurately represent your experience, let me know! because I definitely want to tweak and adjust the Assessment feedback as needed).
For the most part, I suspect that this Assessment is that last nudge you needed to make your move, and finally purchase your weighted blanket. I hope to hear back several months from now that it was the absolute best purchase you’ve ever made. I want each of my customers to have these kinds of results: “Loving my weighted blanket. It honestly took away my insomnia that I’d had for years! I sleep so well with my weighted blanket!”
THAT is what I want for you.
